Configuring Eudora 5 for MacOS

Requires Eudora 5.2 or newer. For MacOS X users, MacOS X 10.1.3 or later is required.

When starting Eudora for the first time, it will present you with this first window. Follow the instructions below each picture.

In the "Username" box, enter your username. In the "Mail Server" box, enter your host name.

For instance, if your e-mail address is "jersmith@uoregon.edu", your username would be "jersmith" (the text to the left of the @ sign). Your host name is "uoregon.edu".

In the "Real Name" box, enter your name.

From the list on the left, click the "Checking Mail" icon.


In the "Mail Protocol" section, click the "IMAP" button.

From the list on the left, scroll down and click on the "SSL" icon.

Set "SSL for POP" to "Required (Use Alternate Port)".

Set "SSL for SMTP" to "Required (TLS)".

Set "SSL for IMAP" to "Required (Use Alternate Port)".

From the list on the left, click on "Sending Mail".

Click the "Use submission port (587)" check box.

Click the "Allow authorization" check box.

Click the "OK" button. Configuration is complete.
