Configuring Mozilla for MacOS
Based on Mozilla 1.4 for MacOS X
- Start Mozilla
- From the "Window" menu select "Mail & Newsgroups"
- Click the "Create
a new account" link
- Select "Email account" and click the ">" button
- Enter your name and your email address; click the ">" button
- Click either the "POP" or "IMAP" button (What's the difference?)
- In the "Incoming
mail server"
box enter either "pop.uoregon.edu" or "imap.uoregon.edu", depending on what
you chose in the previous step; click the ">" button
- Enter your username ("jersmith" in the example "jersmith@uoregon.edu");
click the ">" button
- Give the account a meaningful name, like "UO"
and click the ">" button
- Click the "Finish" button
But wait! There's more...
- Click the "View settings for this account" link
- Click on "Server Settings" in the list on the left
- Click the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box and click OK
Not done yet! There's one more set of steps:
- From the "Edit" menu, select "Mail & Newsgroups Account
Settings"
- Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" in the list on the left
- In the server name box, enter "smtp.uoregon.edu"
- Uncheck the "Use name and password" check box
- Click OK
