Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express and Entourage for MacOS

To configure Microsoft Outlook Express 4.5, 5.x and Entourage (all versions):

  1. From the Tools menu, select "Accounts"
  2. Click on the "Mail" tab
  3. Click the "New" button
  4. For Outlook Express and Entourage 2004 users, click the "Configure Account Manually" button
  5. Select "POP" or "IMAP (what's the difference?) and click the Okay button
  6. You will now see the "Edit Account" window. In the "Account name" box enter a descriptive name for this email account.
  7. In the "Name" box enter your name
  8. In the "E-mail address" box enter your e-mail address
  9. In the "Account ID" box enter your username (the part to the left of the @ sign in your email address)
  10. In the POP (or IMAP) server box, enter "pop.uoregon.edu" or "imap.uoregon.edu" depending on what you selected in step #5
  11. In the SMTP server box, enter "smtp.uoregon.edu"
  12. Click the "Click here for advanced receiving options" box
  13. Click the "This IMAP/POP service requires a secure connection (SSL)" box
