Configuring Outlook Express 6

  1. Start Outlook Express
  2. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
  3. Click the "Add" button and select "Mail..."Enter your name and click the "Next >" button
  4. Enter your e-mail address and click the "Next >" button
  5. Enter your incoming mail server as either "pop.uoregon.edu" or "imap.uoregon.edu" (What's the difference?)
  6. Enter "smtp.uoregon.edu" as the outgoing mail server and click the "Next >" button
  7. Optionally, enter your password and click the "Next >" button
  8. Click the "Finish" button

Now that you've entered your account information, you need to enable one more feature:

  1. Click the "Mail" tab
  2. Select the account you just created and click the "Properties" button
  3. Click the "Advanced" tab
  4. Under "Incoming Mail" click the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" check box
  5. Click the "OK" button
  6. Click the "Close" button
