Configuring Pegasus Mail

Based on version 4.11 for Windows

Install Pegasus Mail and start the program. On first launch Pegasus Mail will run the Internet Setup wizard.

  1. Click the Next > button.
  2. Click the Next > button again
  3. Enter either "pop.uoregon.edu" or "imap.uoregon.edu" as your email server (What's the difference?)
  4. Click the Next > button
  5. Enter your username and password. Click the Next > button.
  6. Enter "smtp.uoregon.edu" as your outgoing email (SMTP) server
  7. Click the Next > button
  8. When asked how you connect to the internet, select either Dialup (modem) or Network (ethernet, DSL and cable modem) and click the Next > button
  9. Click the Finish button.

Next, enable SSL, which is required to receive mail from UO servers:

  1. From the File menu select Network Configuration
  2. Click the "Receiving (POP3)" tab
  3. Click the "Edit..." button
  4. In the "Server TCP/IP port" box, enter "995"
  5. Click the "Security" tab
  6. Click the "Via direct SSL connect" button
  7. Click the "Okay" button.
