IMAP, POP and SMTP Settings
Reply-to: Address
Please take a moment to make sure your "Reply-to:" address
is filled out correctly. In some email programs this field is simply called "Email
Address." For example, the correct setting for Darkwing has the form "jersmith@uoregon.edu".
Security (SSL) Required
The University of Oregon requires secure connections (using SSL) to retrieve
mail from Uoregon.edu accounts. To configure your email client,
see our email client configuration page.
IMAP Server Directory
E-mail programs configured to use IMAP should have the server directory set
to "~/mail/".
Mobile Mail
You can now use UO's outgoing mail (SMTP)
server from anywhere on the internet! Configure your mail client as shown
above, then enable SMTP authentication and set it to use port 587. Not every
email program supports SMTP authentication, and each program has a different
way to configure this feature. Check our email program
configuration for
details.
DSL, Cable Modem and non-UO ISP Users
Our outgoing e-mail (SMTP) servers will not accept connections from non-UO internet
addresses. If you have DSL or a cable modem connection, or are using a modem
to dial some other ISP, please use their SMTP server to send e-mail.
Often ISPs will list this type of information on their support web pages.
As of September, 2005, Comcast cable modem customers can use smtp.comcast.net for the outgoing mail (SMTP) server setting.
