Windows Mail

Windows Mail first shipped with Windows Vista.

To configure Windows Mail to log in to your UOregon account, follow these steps:

  1. From the Tools menu select Accounts
  2. Click the Add... button
  3. Select E-mail Account and click the Next button
  4. Enter your name and click the Next button'
  5. Enter your email address and click the Next button
  6. From the Incoming e-mail server type menu select IMAP
  7. In the Incoming mail server box, enter imap.uoregon.edu
  8. In the Outgoing e-mail server name box, enter smtp.uoregon.edu
  9. Click the "Outgoing server requires authentication" check box
  10. Enter your username--the first part of your email address--in the E-mail username box
  11. Enter your password, if you wish, in the Password box
  12. Click the "Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time" check box
  13. Click Finish
  14. Click the Properties button to edit your new account
  15. Click the Advanced tab
  16. Under Outgoing mail (SMTP), click the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" check box.
  17. Change the number in the box from 25 to 587.
  18. Under Incoming mail (IMAP), click the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" check box
  19. Adjust the Server Timeouts slider to 3 minutes
  20. Click the OK button
  21. Click Close button
