My email password doesn't work.
Duck ID passwords expire every 180 days.

If you had been successfully receiving email and now it does not work, your password has either expired or your account was disabled for some reason.

To change your password, visit duckid.uoregon.edu and log in with your old password.

I forgot my email password. What do I do?
Duck ID passwords can be reset even if you don't know your current password.

If you have answered the Duck ID security questions, visit duckid.uoregon.edu, enter your username and click the "Forgot your Password?" button to reset your password.

How do I change my email password?
We have simple instructions on how to change your Duck ID password on our password change page.

My email password stopped working. Why?
The most common cause is that your password expired. Duck ID passwords expire every 180 days.

If you haven't changed your password for six months and you are having trouble getting email or Blackboard (for example) it may be time to change your password. To change your password, visit account.uoregon.edu.

Why do I have to change my password every six months?
Duck ID passwords expire every 180 days (six months). The purpose of the policy is to improve system security.

Admittedly, most of us do not store restricted or secret data in our accounts. However, our servers have over twenty thousand users, and each user account can serve as a point of entry for skillful hackers. A house is not secure if all the doors are locked but the front window is left open.

How can I get an email account?
If you do not have a Duck ID (a username), you need to claim it.

To claim your Duck ID, visit duckid.uoregon.edu. Log in with your UO ID number and your PAC in all UPPER CASE. (Your PAC is the password you use to log in to DuckWeb.)

Duck IDs for new, fall term students are available the third week of June.

If you cannot claim your account, please contact our Help Desk for assistance.

How do I read my email?
You have a variety of options for reading email. One of the quickest ways is to use webmail: email.uoregon.edu. While lacking some of the functionality of other email programs, webmail provide access to email from any internet connected computer in the world. This service is also especially helpful for users who read their email from many locations.

Other popular (and free) email programs are Thunderbird and Mac OS X Mail. Both products are free. Thunderbird is included on Duckware and is available for Windows and MacOS. Mac OS X Mail is included free with Mac OS X.

I received an email message saying my account is over disk quota. What do I do?
Uoregon.edu accounts limit each user to a maximum amount of disk space, which users often use for storing email messages, attachments to messages and web pages. For more information, please read our Quota Issues section.

I've graduated. How long do I get to keep my email account?
Email accounts are deleted one year after the last term of classes (not from the date of graduation).

This also applies to students who are no longer taking classes at the University, not only graduates.

How do I forward my e-mail to a different e-mail account?
Accounts can be set to forward email messages to a different address.

To set an e-mail forward, visit our Mail Forwarding web page.

You can also contact our Help Desk and we will help you set up the forward.
