Windows 2000 Modem Set-up

Introduction

This document details the setup of Windows 2000 Professional for dial-in communication with the University of Oregon, and subsequently to the Internet. This document assumes you have not already setup your modem or connection properties. In some cases you will need to skip some steps due to the fact that some machines come partially pre-configured. Notably, if you have an internal modem, you will likely skip the modem setup steps.

9. If you do not already have a modem installed, you will see the following prompt. Let Windows automatically detect your modem. If Windows does not detect your modem at all, you may have a hardware problem. If Windows detects the modem but doesn't know the model, you can either use the "Standard Modem" or click on the "Back" button and manually select your modem from a list.
