Note: Microcomputer Services and Microsoft no longer support Windows 95.
Introduction
Windows is preconfigured for all of the standard networking protocols required to run the UO Network Applications. You should not be required to modify any setting in your Network control panel. Some Windows 95 users need to open the Network Control panel and add the Microsoft TCP/IP protocol manually because that version of Windows did not include it by default.
Attach an Ethernet Cable
Plug one end of the cable into the Ethernet card. Plug the other end of the cable into a jack on the wall labelled "UO Ethernet." The head of an Ethernet cable looks like a standard phone jack, but it's wider (RJ45). Click here if you don't have an Ethernet card installed yet.
Run the UO Network Applications Installer
Install network applications if you do not already have them. Launch the University of Oregon Network Applications Installer from the Duckware CD-ROM or the Network Applications Installer diskette set. This will install Netscape, Eudora, WS_FTP, Tera Term Pro and other network applications on your computer.
Start a Network Application
Once you have gone through the steps above you should be ready to start up an application. All UO Network Applications are located under the Network Applications option found under the Start menu. In order to open Eudora, for example, you would click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of your desktop and click from the Start menu to Program Files--> Network Applications--> E-Mail--> Eudora.
