Current issues include operator error messages instead of busy signals and what to do about it. We also include links to new high speed service pages like Cable modems and DSL.

Macintosh Updates (5/20/99) We updated our Macintosh Pages to include ARA 3 setup for G3 and Mac OS 8.5/8.6 dial-in users, and updated the "Which System Version" document for Mac OS 8.6.

Macintosh to Windows Transition Issues (BANNER Users) 3/20/98. Many workgroups at the University of Oregon are dealing with the possibility of switching from a Macintosh-based environment to a Windows environment. Furthermore, some UO Banner users may be purchasing PCs instead of Macs for the first time this year. See our set of pages which list Mac vs. PC results for BANNER use, discuss issues when switching between Mac. vs. Windows environments and give some recommended hardware guidelines for BANNER users.

Windows 3.1 Eudora Patch 1/16/98. If you have installed Eudora 3.0 from the 1997 Duckware CD-ROM you may be getting error messages when trying to open the program. Download this patch to your computer and then Run it from the File-->Run menu to update Eudora 3.0.

SMTP Relay Block 11/24/97 The University of Oregon will no longer relay email from outside the UO network to other users outside the UO campus network. This is to prevent the continued abuse of our large systems as relayers of junk mail. If you connect to an Internet Service Provider outside of Eugene and are a current UO student, faculty, or staff member you may want to read this discussion.
