Finding your printer's IP address

Introduction: Before you go about setting up TCP/IP printing, realize that you may not need to do so. Macintosh computers on the local network with the printer should continue to be able to print using the chooser. You will need to turn off your computer and printer after the network changes on July 1st, 2002. The instructions located here for displaying configuration can be followed by anyone, but please check with local support staff before making any changes to printer settings etc.

Apple Printers: In many cases, turning off the power, and turning it back on will generate a test page. The IP address and hardware address of the printer should be available from that page. Alternatey, you can use the Apple Printer Utility to display or change printer settings. See CC Public Domain, Printer Drivers, Utilities and Patches, LaserWriter Utilities, PPC, Apple Printer Utility.
