How to Enable Secure Email Passwords in
Netscape

NOTE: Do not enable SSL for Outgoing (SMTP) mail. You will not be able to send mail with this feature enabled.

Windows (Netscape 7.0 and later)

  1. From the Window menu select Mail
  2. From the Edit menu select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...
  3. Click Server Settings
  4. Click the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box (found in the Server Settings section)
  5. Click OK

Windows (Netscape 4) (download)

  1. From the Window menu select Mail
  2. From the Edit menu select Preferences
  3. Under the "Mail & Newsgroups" heading select Mail Servers. (If the option is hidden click the "+" next to the heading.)
  4. Under "Incoming Mail Servers" click on your mail server
  5. Select Edit...
  6. Select IMAP
  7. Select "Use secure connection (SSL)"

MacOS (Netscape 7.0 and later)

  1. From the Window menu select Mail & Newsgroups
  2. From the Edit menu select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
  3. Click Server Settings
  4. In the "Server Settings" section click the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box
  5. Click OK
