How to Enable Secure Email Passwords in
Netscape
NOTE: Do not enable SSL for Outgoing (SMTP) mail. You will not be able
to send mail with this feature enabled.
Windows (Netscape 7.0 and later)
- From the Window menu select Mail
- From the Edit menu select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...
- Click Server Settings
- Click the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box (found in the
Server Settings section)
- Click OK
Windows (Netscape 4) (download)
- From the Window menu select Mail
- From the Edit menu select Preferences
- Under the "Mail & Newsgroups" heading select Mail Servers.
(If the option is hidden click the "+" next to the heading.)
- Under "Incoming Mail Servers" click on your mail server
- Select Edit...
- Select IMAP
- Select "Use secure connection (SSL)"
MacOS (Netscape 7.0 and later)
- From the Window menu select Mail & Newsgroups
- From the Edit menu select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
- Click Server Settings
- In the "Server Settings" section click the "Use secure connection
(SSL)" check box
- Click OK
