How to Enable Secure Email Passwords in
Microsoft's Outlook 98, Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express
NOTE: Do not enable SSL for Outgoing (SMTP) mail. You will not be able
to send mail with this feature enabled.
Windows Outlook 98 and Outlook Express 5.0 (and later)
- From the Tools menu select Accounts
- Click the Mail tab
- Click on your email account and click the Properties button on the right
- Click the Advanced tab
- Under 'Incoming mail" click the "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)" check box
- Click OK
Microsoft Outlook 2000 for Windows
- From the Tools menu select Services
- Click on "Internet E-mail"
- Click the Properties button
- Click the Advanced tab
- Under "Incoming mail" click the "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)" check box
- Click OK
MacOS version 5 and later
- From the Tools menu select Accounts
- Click the Mail tab
- Click on your email account and click the Edit button
- Click on "Click here for advanced receiving options"
- Click the check box that reads "This POP/IMAP service requires a secure
connection (SSL)"
- Click OK
