How to Enable Secure Email Passwords in
Mail for MacOS X

NOTE: Do not enable SSL for Outgoing (SMTP) mail. You will not be able to send mail with this feature enabled.

Mac OS X Mail (requires MacOS X 10.1.3 or later)

  1. From the Mail menu select Preferences...
  2. Click the Accounts button at the top of the window that appears
  3. Select your account and click the Edit button
  4. Click the Advanced tab. If there's no Advanced tab, click on the Account Options tab.
  5. Click the "Use SSL" check box
