Transfer Files Securely

Building a web page or need to store files on UOregon.edu? Below are the basics of transferring files securely.

1. Start "Secure File Transfer Client" by double-clicking on it (or selecting it from the Start menu). If you've installed Duckware, this can also be found under Start-> Programs -> Network Applications -> SFTP -> SFTP.

 
2. Click the QuickConnect button.

3. Enter "shell.uoregon.edu" as the host name and your user name in the User Name box. i.e. jersmith.

Click the connect button.
4. Enter your password and press enter
6. The files and folders on the left hand side represent those found on your local hard disk. The files and folders displayed on the right hand side are files in your account. To transfer files, drag them between the window panes.
Advanced Tip: This program supports "drag-and-drop" which enables you to transfer a file or folder simply by dragging it into the appropriate window pane.
