3.1 Support (Archive) |
|
Microcomputer Services offers very minimal support for Windows 3.1 to the University of Oregon campus community. We recommend upgrading your operating system as soon as possible, particularly before January 1, 2000. We understand the issues of cost of new hardware and that some specific programs may not run under newer versions of Windows, but, our experience shows that the support costs for Windows 3.1 almost always outweigh the initial inconvenience of upgrading. Furthermore, almost no new software development is taking place for the Windows 3.1 platform. If you use Microsoft Office products the Windows 3.1 version is now (November 1999) three full versions behind it's Windows 95/98/NT/2000 counterparts. For Windows and Microsoft Office patches please make use of the Microsoft Year 2000 Website at http://www.microsoft.com/y2k, also you can get the Microsoft Software Analyzer, and you can verify individual Microsoft products as well. We strongly urge you to take these actions if you have not already done so. This page provides links to Windows 3.1 support resources and software made available by Microcomputer Services and Microsoft Corporation, as well as other third party vendors and organizations. This page will not be updated.
