Windows XP Wireless Configuration

Follow this procedure to set up a wireless connection to the University's network.

Click the Start menu, go to Connect To and select your wireless card.

The connection will be named either "Wireless Network Connection" or "Local Area Connection". If there is more than one item in the list, look for the wireless icon ().

Wait 10 to 15 seconds. You should see a status balloon appear:

This procedure works with most wireless cards.

Have you followed these steps and your wireless card sees the university's wireless network but you cannot get the "UOnet Authentication" page to load? Most of the time this problem is caused by spyware that is running on your computer. Pick up a free Windows Security CD from our Help Desk. This CD will install and run Spybot, an spyware detection and removal program.
